The Ports dataset, originated from IHS Markit, provides global port information on over 6,900+ ports, 17,000+ terminals and 44,000+ berths. This dataset contains geospatial positions for every Port, Terminal and Berth recorded. An indication of the commodity handled at port and berth is provided with over 90% completeness for berths. Also recorded are UNLOCODES, maximum vessel restrictions, bunker availability, free trade zones, annual cargo throughput, terminal storage and MARPOL reception facilities.

Common uses for the data include data integration into bridge navigation planning software/voyage planning, overlaying the data on Electronic Navigational Charts and analysis when used in conjunction with the port and berth movements datasets.
