The 451 Research M&A KnowledgeBase dataset provides M&A transactions data specialized to the technology segment, tracking deals across more than 650 tech industry categories and offering proprietary insight on deal rationales and private-company M&A valuations. The database contains data on majority ownership transactions for more than 70,000 tech deals from 2002 to present, providing well-vetted estimates of deal values, trailing revenue or EBITDA for key private deals, additional data on headcount and customer count as well as data and analysis related to deal rationales.

You can leverage this dataset to provide additional intelligence on private-company valuation comparables. either on a stand-alone basis or as a supplement to the S&P Global Transactions dataset. Also, use the data to track trends in M&A volume and valuations across more than 650 tech segments, analyze deal rationales and assess the M&A strategies of acquirers. Data is cross-referenced to the Transactions dataset through company and transaction IDs.

The dataset includes full detail on acquirer company, target company and acquisition terms. In addition, it offers these unique data points:
  • Proprietary estimates of private deal values and of target trailing revenues and EBIDTA
  • 650-node industry classification taxonomy
  • Additional sector metatags tracking cross-sector themes such as Machine Learning and IoT
  • Succinct, plain-English descriptions of acquirer and target companies
